Close inspection reveals three separate buildings under one same roof: an L-shape building for the warehouse and assembly plant, a large elliptical building that contains the visitor center and exhibition space, and a smaller circular building occupied by a Café.
The concrete walls that meet the eye are in fact an exoskeleton. The gap between the separate building’s own walls and the exoskeleton acts like natural insulation.
Skylights shaped like little truncated pyramids on the roof, apparently randomly arrayed, let light into all areas of the facility. Bright daylight is moderated by glass blocks in the visitor’s center and the Café.
Especially in the afternoon, the building would strike just the right chord with the hues of the desert landscape.
